I live in South Maui in a town called Wailea. But Maui is divided into several distinct regions, each offering unique experiences and differing locations and feels for shoots. West Maui includes Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kapalua, Napili, Honokowai, and Olowalu, known for stunning beaches and historic sites. South Maui features Kihei, Wailea, and Makena, home to luxury resorts and golden-sand beaches. Central Maui consists of Kahului and Wailuku, the island's commercial and cultural hubs. Upcountry Maui encompasses Pukalani, Makawao, Kula, and Haiku, offering breathtaking mountain views and a more rural atmosphere. North Shore Maui is made up of Paia and Spreckelsville, famous for surf culture and laid-back vibes. Finally, East Maui includes Hana, Kipahulu, and Nahiku, known for lush rainforests, waterfalls, and the iconic Road to Hana. All locations provide unique opportunities for different styles of shoots.

I also frequently Travel to neighboring islands to photograph families, individuals or weddings.

OAHU PHOTOGRAPHER

I grew up on Oʻahu, known as "The Gathering Place," and often travel to Oahu to photograph families or events. It is home to a diverse array of towns and communities across the island. Honolulu, the state capital, includes vibrant districts like Downtown Honolulu, the financial and historical center; Waikīkī, famous for its beaches and nightlife (Beuatiful place to shoot if you are at convention or in Honolulu for work) Kaimukī, a charming neighborhood with boutique shops and eateries; and Mānoa, a lush valley home to the University of Hawaiʻi. On the Windward Coast, towns like Kailua offer stunning white-sand beaches, while Kāneʻohe features lush landscapes and Kāneʻohe Bay. Further north, Lāʻie is known for the Polynesian Cultural Center and Brigham Young University–Hawaiʻi.

The North Shore is home to Haleʻiwa, a historic surf town with art galleries and famous surf spots, as well as Waialua, a quiet agricultural area, and Kahuku, known for its shrimp farms and proximity to Turtle Bay Resort. Central Oʻahu includes Mililani, a well-planned suburban community, Wahiawā, surrounded by pineapple plantations, and Pearl City, which overlooks historic Pearl Harbor. If you are up for an adventure, a half day or full day shoot around the north shore is the way to go. Moving to the Leeward Coast, Kapolei, often called the "Second City," is rapidly growing with shopping centers and resorts (FOUR SEAONS AND DISNEY HERE - GREAT BEACHES for shoots), while ʻEwa Beach and Nānākuli are known for their local communities and beautiful beaches. In East Honolulu, towns like Hawaiʻi Kai offer marina-front living, Kāhala is home to luxury estates, and ʻĀina Haina provides a family-friendly suburban environment. Each of these communities adds to Oʻahu's dynamic character, blending modern city life with deep cultural roots and stunning natural beauty.

KAUAI PHOTOGRAPHER

Kauaʻi, known as "The Garden Isle," is famous for its lush landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and small, welcoming communities. The island is divided into several regions, each with its own unique towns and attractions. I have spent several months living on Kauai and spent at least 15 hours exploring the island by Helicopter over the yers.

On the North Shore, Princeville is a resort town perched on a bluff overlooking the ocean, offering luxury accommodations and world-class golf. Nearby, Hanalei is a charming, laid-back surf town with stunning beaches, taro fields, and a rich Hawaiian heritage. Kīlauea, once a sugar plantation town, is now known for the Kīlauea Lighthouse and its bird sanctuary. If you are staying on the north shore a half day shoot here is an awesome experience in the summer. If you are looking for simple family portrait Hanalei is perfect backdrop.

The East Side, or Coconut Coast, includes Kapa‘a, one of the island’s busiest towns, with a mix of local shops, restaurants, and beach parks. Wailua, set along the Wailua River, is known for its sacred Hawaiian sites, waterfalls, and Fern Grotto. Anahola, a small coastal town, has a strong Native Hawaiian presence and offers quiet, scenic beaches.

In Līhuʻe, the island’s main hub, you’ll find the airport, shopping centers, and historical sites like the Kilohana Plantation and the Kauaʻi Museum. South of Līhuʻe, Puhi is a growing residential area home to Kauaʻi Community College and the Kauaʻi Coffee Plantation.

The South Shore is famous for its sunny weather and beautiful beaches. Poʻipū is a top resort area with luxury hotels, snorkeling spots, and fine dining. Great Beaches for family shoots Nearby, Kōloa is a historic plantation town with charming old buildings and the famous Spouting Horn blowhole.

The West Side of Kauaʻi is more rural and less developed. Waimea is historically significant as the landing site of Captain Cook in 1778 and is the gateway to Waimea Canyon, the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Hanapēpē, known as "Kauaʻi’s Biggest Little Town," is an artistic community with galleries and a famous swinging bridge. Kekaha, the last major town on the west side, is known for its long sandy beaches and access to the remote Nāpali Coast.

Each of these Kauaʻi towns offers its own distinct charm, blending rich history, Hawaiian culture, and breathtaking natural beauty.

HAWAII PHOTOGRAPHER

The Big Island of Hawaiʻi offers some of the most diverse and breathtaking sunrise and sunset photography locations in the world. From towering volcanic peaks and lush rainforests to black sand beaches and dramatic lava fields, this island provides endless golden-hour photography opportunities. The important thing is to have plan in place. as the Island is big and it takes a while to get from one place to another. Whether I'm capturing a couple with the the sun’s first light illuminating a black sand beach or watching the last rays disappear over an ancient lava field as a family explores the Lava, this island offers truly magical sunrise & golden-hour photography opportunities.
